Leslie Park
Ann Arbor, Michigan

Course Review

By House

Located in the northeast side of Ann Arbor, this gem of a course is the host of the annual city tournament. Leslie Park plays long and is known as a difficult city course. Not a typical muni course, the greens are challenging and will force you to use every club in your bag. Driving by on Traver Rd. and you might wonder if the course layout is relatively flat and boring. This is not the case; in fact, holes 4-9 will give your legs a nice workout. During that span, there are some marvelous views of the Ann Arbor cityscape, particularly on the 7th tee box.

The course was first designed by E. L. Packard but later renovated in the mid-1990s by Arthur Hills. Although they do have carts, I have never used one there. I once had leagues there prior to them serving alcohol. That plus the limited space clubhouse space made the end of the round pretty mundane. Shake hands and off you go to load the car.

The 5 F's for Leslie Park

1) Fee Factor

They changed the rates this year and now you can play this awesome muni at a good price.
2) Friendliness Factor
18
The guys in the pro shop were professional and helpful.
3) Fringe Factor

No driving range and only a small putting green. The clubhouse is nice, but small and limited. I am not complaining too much because I would prefer my tax dollars go to something other than sprucing up this clubhouse.
4) From 1st Tee to Handshake Factor

The course is great! Tucked back in a subdivision, it will startle you how nice this course is. Well-groomed and cared for.
5) Fun Factor

This is place to go to after work (if they don't have leagues) and play a nice round and be home for a late dinner.
